The CAPMT Executive Board knows that you join us in expressing our heartfelt sympathy to the fire victims who are members of our music family in the greater Los Angeles region during this incredibly difficult time. The devastation caused by the ongoing fires is unimaginable, and we know that the loss and trauma that our music colleagues are facing are beyond words. Our thoughts are with the fire victims in confronting these challenging moments in their lives. To the CAPMT members who have lost homes, treasured musical instruments, and meaningful family possessions, and to those who have severely damaged homes, nothing can replace what has been lost. Please know that you are not alone in this struggle. Your strength and courage in the face of this adversity are inspiring. As members of this music community, we want to offer our support in any way possible. Whether it’s providing a safe space to stay, sharing resources, or simply offering a listening ear, we are here for you. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything. Our hearts and hands are with you as you move to recovery. We understand this road to recovery will be long and filled with multiple challenges, but please remember that there are many music friends who care about you and are willing to stand by your side every step of the way. CAPMT is wishing you peace, comfort, and all the support you need in the days ahead. Please stay safe and know that our hearts and hands are with you. Although the CAPMT Executive Board is unaware of every CAPMT member who may be suffering at this time, we have learned that Jennifer Snow, a past CAPMT President, and Antoinette (An) Perry, CAPMT Teacher of the Year 2022, have lost their homes in Pacific Palisades and Altadena, respectively. If you know of other CAPMT members who have lost homes, have damaged homes, or are experiencing loss and know of GoFundMe pages for affected CAPMT members, please inform me by email (mitzi@capmt.org). At this time, we are aware that a GoFundMe page has been established for Antoinette Perry (https://gofund.me/9b1bba5a). You may also contribute to MusicCares or any other disaster relief such as the American Red Cross, Los Angeles to assist the victims of these incomprehensible fires. Please join the CAPMT Executive Board in extending a helping hand to our music colleagues. Contribute to assist our cherished CAPMT colleagues. With compassion, |
